National Socialist Council of Nagalim General Secretary Th Muivah said he was confident that a lasting solution would come sooner or later given the recent assurance of the Naga people to stand firm on the political issue. Muivah was optimistic on a lasting solution if people remain united for a cause.

Addressing local media persons at the Dimapur Airport before leaving for Delhi for the next round of political talks, Muivah praised the Naga people for what he described as the ‘extraordinary experience’ and special welcome which was accorded to him and other NSCN delegates during the visit to other parts of Nagaland.

To bring about permanent settlement to the Indo-Naga political issue, Muivah said that ‘the decision lies with the people,’ adding ‘without the people I cannot go ahead.’  Muivah said that he was overwhelmed by the ‘eagerness and willingness’ shown by the Naga people on the political issue during his recent goodwill visit across Nagaland.

When asked by the scribes about the next round of talks, Thuingaleng Muivah clarified that no date has been fixed for the talks with the government of India. On his next venture after the talks, Muivah said that it all depends on the outcome of the talks. He however, said that he will come back to Nagaland. “I cannot be away from my people for so long,” said Muivah.

On the opposition against his visit from certain quarters, Muivah while maintaining that there was no objection to his visit however, said that public from those areas demanded some time for consultation and preparation for his visit as the proposal to visit those areas were issued in a short notice.

Among other members who will involved in the talks included Gen. VS Atem, Convenor of Core Steering Committee; Q Tuccu, co-convenor Core Steering Committee; TS Thumpa and TT Among Sangtam, executives steering committee; Makhriechü, steering member, Rev. A Puni, vice president Council of Naga Churches; K Mero, Deputy Kilonser MIP; Imcha Longkumer, secretary steering committee and Pamshin, secretary to Ato Kilonser.

Meanwhile, sources informed that the next round of talks between the NSCN leaders and the government of India will begin in the next couple of days. The sources further said that the NSCN general secretary will also meet political leaders in the national capital informally.
