Demand for completion of school buildings in Aghunato gains support

Aghunato, August 2 (MExN): The Village Councils, Village Education Committees (VECs)/School Management Committees (SMCs), GBs, Students’ Union of Kelto, Shevishe, Viyilho and Ngozubo villages and Eastern Sumi Students’ Union (ESSU) held a joint consultative at Indoor Stadium, Aghunato meeting on August 1. The meeting was held with regard to the issue of incomplete school buildings construction in the mentioned villages and it was resolved to demand that the abandoned school buildings in the four villages should be completed at the earliest and the culprits be punished as per the provision of the law.

According to a press release from the ESSU President, the meeting resolved to condemn and nullify all the resolutions that were adopted in the July 1 meeting, as it was called by “the questionable authority” without the knowledge of the competent authority- the Deputy Commissioner/District Education Committee Chairman and the District Education Officer/District Project Coordinator.

The Village Education Committee members, GBs and Head Teacher who attended the meeting were ignorant of the meeting being called without proper authority, ESSU stated. They further resolved that the Village Education Committees/School Management Committees of the four villages do not have any role in the construction of the school buildings. “It was solely constructed by the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan(SSA), District Management Authority Zunheboto (DMAZ). Therefore, the VECs/SMCs cannot be held responsible for the incompletion and abandonment of the GMS buildings,” they maintained. The meeting resolved to extend an unflinching support to ESSU in its pursuit of resolving the issue.
