Dimapur, April 2 (MExN): The Joint Co-ordination Committee of Villages (JCCV) for Dimapur District has announced a sit-in demonstration to protest the inclusion of Dhansiripar sub-division areas under the newly created Chümoukedima district.
The proposed sit-in will be held on April 11 and 12 outside the Office Complex of Sub-Divisional Officer, Dhansiripar.
According to a press release, the resolution was taken during an executive meeting on Saturday, “After waiting thus far for the Government’s response and decision on the impasse of JCCV and the Government in regard to arbitrary merger of Dhansiripar Sub-division along with some villages with the newly created district of Chümoukedima.”
It further stated that villages under the JCCV would “boycott any Government dealings with regard to shifting of jurisdiction to Chümoukedima district but to maintain status quo,” till such a time that the impasse is resolved.
It also lamented on how the authorities could remain deaf to the just demand of the JCCV and 'hell-bent' to keep Sub-division under Chümoukedima against the desire of the people.
