Mokokchung, September 16 (MExN): ATMA Kobulong block conducted demonstration on French bean and broccoli cultivation at Chami and Yimchalu on September 14. The resource person Renbomo, SMS (Horti), KVK demonstrated on the site selection, seed treatment, application of bio fertilizers and maintenance of recommended space and line sowing for French bean cultivation.
For broccoli cultivation, he highlighted the concept and importance of nursery bed and showed the farmers hands on demonstration on preparation of nursery bed. He emphasized on the application of fungicides to prevent incidences of disease. The resource person further stressed on watering, transplanting. He also deliberated on the proper preparation of the field maintaining correct spacing, earthing of the plant and proper harvesting techniques.
At the end of the programme, seeds were provided to the host demo farmers and also to other farmers in attendance. In addition, bio fertilizers provided by district Agriculture office was also distributed to the farmers. Altogether, 13 farmers attended the demonstration programme.
