
Zunheboto, August 18 (MExN): ATMA Akuhaito Block, Zunheboto conducted demonstration on oyster mushroom cultivation and value addition of vegetables on August 16 at Philimi village along with training on Integrated Pest Management (IPM).
Assistant Technology Managers Kaiho Achumi and Tovinoli of ATMA Akuhaito Block were the resource persons. Kaiho gave a brief introduction on Integrated Pest Management, emphasizing on the benefit of biological method (use of Neem oil and powder) and mechanical method (use of light traps and as such). Considering the present scenario of farming system in Nagaland, he said, farmers should try to minimize the use of chemicals as it has adverse effect in the long run.
Meanwhile, Tovinoli deliberated on the benefit of mushroom cultivation and value addition of vegetables and its contribution in elevating the economic status of the family. 20 farmers from Philimi and Rotomi village attended the training.
