Peren: Peren district observed National Rural Drinking water and Sanitation awareness week with SDO (C), Albert Ezung, Peren as the Chief Guest on February 20 at Peren town police point.
Speaking on the occasion, he pointed out the usefulness of water and its necessity in our daily life. Depletion of fresh water is a global issue where everyone was a part of it he said and urged the gathering to be more responsible in disposing the waste to avoid environmental problem.
He exhorted the people of Peren to be wiser in utilizing the fund provided by the government for development.
Chemist, ESSO Peren Moanaro, chaired the programme while SDO PHED Peren, Er. Ichirang Zeliang delivered the welcome address. CMO Peren Dr Xangkho Lotha, General Secretary ZPO, Kisamyi, Mampeo NZA, Ward Chairman Peren town, EE PHED Peren Division Er Khetoi Sema, also delivered short speeches. All Saints Higher Secondary school Peren presented a special song while SDO PHED Jalukie, Er. SK Tep proposed the vote of thanks. The programme was attended by HoDs from various departments, teachers and students from various schools, public leaders and well wishers from Peren town.
