Deserters are a disgrace: KTC

Dimapur, May 24 (MExN): Khiamniungan citizens serving either in the armed forces or the police are appealed not to involve in unlawful activities but serve the nation and state diligently. In making this appeal, the Khiamniungan Tribal Council was referring to recent incidents in Tuensang and Kiphire, where bodyguards of the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police, respectively, deserted with arms.

The KTC said the recent unbecoming events in Tuensang and Kiphire where bodyguards deserted heir posts with arms and ammunitions are a disgrace to the uniform and the community they belong to. “It is with pride the KTC can say that till today no armed personnel of Khiamniungan tribe were involved in any such military misconduct,” stated a note from the KTC executives.

The Council has stated that it expects discipline and moral conduct in discharging their service to the nation. In the near future if any personnel brings “ignominy” to the tribe by “engaging in unlawful activities”, the KTC will initiate stern action against the individual as deemed fit, the Council cautioned.
