Develop work culture, says Minister Kheto

Zunheboto, FEB 2 (DIPR): As part of his tour, Minister for IPR & Forest, Kheto visited New Lotisa village on February 1. He was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner, Zunheboto, SDO (C) Aghuluto and host of Government Officials who were given a warm welcome at the village gate.
Addressing a public meeting the Minister said that work culture is diminishing in the present day and emphasized that education serves as eye opener for all round development. ‘To get education we require money and for that we have to be self sufficient’, he said and advised the people to work hard and increase their income source.

Kheto said that depending on government for everything will bring desperation because the government alone cannot do everything although people still keep on expecting. Work culture should be replaced by expectation culture, the Minister said and advised the villagers to rear animals as horticulture is not suitable in the area.

Earlier, various cultural items were presented by the villagers. The Minister donated Rs. 75,000/- for construction of Primary School and construction of a suspension bridge over Tizu river.

At old Lotisa village, Minister Kheto voiced out concern over the laziness of the people which he said is creeping into our society and our identity is losing out slowly to this maniac. Instead of asking for welfare the public demand only money and the Minister said that the elected members are now unable to move ahead to visit villages because the public try to hit the wrong button. This, the Minister said, is due to laziness. Encouraging the people, he said that VK/Akuluto area is a horticulture zone with suitable soil and climate.
Stating that the DAN Government has been trying to improve living conditions of rural people and has declared the year 2006 as ‘Year of Farmers’, the Minister said that this is in compliance with the Government policy. He said that the Government has made machinery tools available for farmers to enhance production activities. People should avail all these privileges, he said and added that Rs. 71 crores have been sanctioned for agri and allied departments.

Earlier, the villagers presented various folk songs and dances. The Minister donated Rs. 50,000/- towards church welfare fund for procuring sound system and another Rs.30, 000/- for various cultural groups.

At Mapulumi, the Minister inaugurated a village court. Addressing the villagers Minister Kheto said that hardship is human tradition and encouraged the villagers to have a positive reaction to the Government’s endeavours.

He said that grand-in-aid has also been elevated to Rs.800/- per household and urged upon the people to act wisely on the avenues available which will generate future income.

He also donated Rs 1 lakh, 40 thousand towards sanitation, old and handicapped people of the church and self-help-groups.
