DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 12 (MExN): The fifth round of DFL began on 12 October at DDSC Stadium with a thrilling first match which saw FC Alianza beat Titan 3-1.
Laiwang Konyak of FC Alianza scored a hatrick for his club in the 25th, 48th and 75th minutes while David of Titan scored the sole goal for his club at 49th minute. David was also cautioned during the 9th minute. Laiwang Konyak was awarded the Man of the Match.
In the second match P. Vizheto FC beat Ekhyo FC 4-0. Kato of P Vizheto FC scored the first goal at 12th minute while Winamthiu scored the second goal in the 40th minute.
Kato scored the other two goals in the 55th and 59th minutes. Kato was awarded Man of the Match during the second match. Mhabemo of Ekhyo FC and Tokugha of P. Vizheto FC were cautioned during the first half.
Match Patron of the day, Hokuto Zhimo, Former DMC Councillor spoke at a brief programme and impressed upon the players that scoring was not the only thing in a game but that discipline and exhibiting sportsmanship should go hand in hand. He expressed delight to witness young players engaged in games and sports.
Hokuto also lauded the Naga United FC for organizing the event to engage budding footballers to showcase their talents and involving them for a meaningful purpose. He told the players that there could be watchful eyes to provide them platform at a higher level depending upon their talents and thus encouraged them to play with determination and discipline.
He expressed the hope that footballers from the state would make a name for Nagaland in the sporting map of the country. Before commencing the second match, the Match Patron gave away award to the Man of the Match for the first match.
