Dimapur, July 25 (MExN): Dimapur Government College (DGC) marked a significant milestone by celebrating its 58th Foundation Day and first-ever Graduation Day in the college auditorium. This event, a landmark in the college's history, not only commemorated its foundation but also honored the first formal graduation of its students.
The program, organized by the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) of DGC and the college authorities led by the principal and Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), saw the participation of graduates, senior students, parents, faculty members, staff, and well-wishers. The ceremony featured the distribution of numerous awards and certificates recognizing achievements in academic, co-curricular, and extra-curricular activities.
The ‘Dr. Hokishe Sema Award’ for the Topper in Arts was jointly awarded to Imlikumla Longkumer (Economics) and Pauleuhing Teilia (Political Science). These two students also shared the ‘College Topper Award’. The L.T. Yepthomi Award for Topper in Commerce was awarded to Juny Maya.
In addition to these honors, various departments within the college presented awards to their respective subject toppers. Each award included cash prizes and commendation certificates. Certificates for special contributions and achievements were also distributed to students who excelled in various activities within and outside the college.
The program was chaired by Jimokli Z. Zhimomi, with Dr. Hannah Tia leading a special prayer for the graduating students. The graduation speech was delivered by Pauleuhing Teilia. The event began with a welcome speech by Principal Prof. Sanjay Sharma, followed by a special song performed by Lengnio of BA 3rd Semester. Ningshijungla Longchar expressed appreciation towards the PTA of DGC. The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks from Dr. A. Sentiyula.
