DGTA Vice President clarifies on Sep 19 incident

Dimapur, September 21 (MExN): The Dimapur Goods Transport Association (DGTA), Mughavi N Zhimomi today stated that the allegation that he is a Tatar of NSCN/GPRN (Khango/Isak) is “purely imaginary” and further refuted he “collects money for NNPGs or embezzle the funds meant for political groups.”

“Whatever dealing with whichever section has always been purely in the capacity as the Vice President of the DGTA representing the collective decision of the union and has nothing to do with me personally,” he asserted in a press statement.

The Morung Express on September 20 has reported that the  Dimapur Police has arrested one person was arrested late Sunday night, for the alleged armed intrusion into the private residence of DGTA Vice President on September 19. As per preliminary investigation, the intruder is not a member of any Naga Political Groups but is suspected to be close to one, it stated quoting police sources.

The Dimapur Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) has also condemned the alleged intrusion. In the meantime, the NSCN-K (Niki group) in a statement on Monday also cautioning all transporters/transport agencies to “desist from all association with Mughavi Zhimo” whom they alleged was a Tatar, NSCN/GPRN (Khango/Isak).

Meanwhile, on what he termed as “undesirable incidents” occurring between NSCN-K (Niki group) and DGTA, and “unfound allegations” being used by the former, Zhimomi in his statement said that he was obliged to clarify and narrate the sequence of events so that “appropriate authorities such as Chairman CFMG/CFSB, Commissionaire of Police Dimapur and the State Government to ponder upon and also initiate necessary measures to prevent such incidents in the future.”

As per his account, a cadre of NSCN-K (Niki group) on September 3 deputed to him by one Dy. Kilonser allegedly saying that “unless we pay him a huge amount of money as against Manipur goods carrying trucks,” he would resort to attacking Manipur-bound trucks.”

The DGTA Vice President further alleged that on September 13, a broker of the same group “extorted two lakh seventeen thousand” from one bonafide member of DGTA.

We told the broker that “any payment can be pursued only with collective decision of the union and not be enforced upon an individual,” he maintained.

Reacting to this, on September 18, the broker threatened the DGTA member and “stern action” against me, he claimed.

“The phone was on loudspeaker and I overheard the entire conversation as I was physically present with the member,” Zhimomi.
On September 19, the alleged armed intrusion of his private residence occurred.

In this connection, the DGTA Vice President denied “all baseless allegation leveled against” him and said that any decision taken is not personal but “collective wisdom of the union.”
