DHE Nagaland updates on Post-Matric Scholarship

Kohima, August 20 (MExN): The Department of Higher Education (DHE), Nagaland, has issued an advisory outlining the application, verification and disbursement process for the Post-Matric Scholarship for Scheduled Tribe (ST) students, including requirements for Aadhaar seeding and Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

According to the State DIPR, eligible ST students who have passed matriculation, higher secondary or any higher examination from a recognised university or board are required to apply online through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) -., https://scholarships.gov.in- and submit a hard copy to their respective institutions within the stipulated timeline.

Applications are first verified by the Institute Nodal Officer (L1) with regard to admission, course of study, ST certificate, fee structure and other supporting documents.

Applications cleared at the institute level are subsequently scrutinised and approved by the State Nodal Officer (L2), it said.

Applications marked “Defective” at either L1 or L2 must be rectified online by applicants within the stipulated timeline. No modifications or corrections will be permitted after the deadline, the department stated.

The DHE also advised students to ensure that their bank accounts are Aadhaar-seeded and enabled for DBT payments.

Students can seed their Aadhaar and enable DBT for only one active bank account at a time, and have been advised to visit their bank branch to complete the process to avoid delays in payment.

Students have also been advised to regularly check their application status through the scholarship portal and complete any required action within the prescribed timeline.

The department cautioned that submission of an application does not guarantee scholarship payment, as selection remains subject to the accuracy and validity of information and documents submitted by applicants.

Students and parents or guardians were further advised to rely only on official communications from the DHE and designated scholarship or departmental websites and avoid unverified information, unofficial sources or intermediaries.

For scholarship-related queries, students may contact their respective institutions or the scholarship authorities during office hours from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm. The department has provided the email hescholarship@gmail.com and contact number 9863772522 for further clarification.

The Post-Matric Scholarship is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme and the  DHE is the implementing agency in Nagaland.

For the North-East states, the funding pattern is 90% from the Government of India and 10% from the State government.

Scholarship disbursement is subject to receipt of the requisite funds from the Central Ministry, the Department added.
