Diabetes becoming a serious concern among young people

FPAI organises awareness campaign on World Health Day in Kohima

    Kohima, April 7 (mexn): Family Planning Association of India (FPAI), Nagaland Branch today observed the World Health Day with students and teachers of Government Higher Secondary School, Seikhazou Kohima.   With the theme for the event of World Health Day, 2016- ‘Beat Diabetes’, the programme aimed to create awareness about the global alarming issues concerning to diabetes and key measures to prevent diabetes, informed a press note from Ville Rhetso Counselor, FPA India. World Health Day During the programme , a short quiz session was conducted on the ‘Basic Understanding of Diabetes’ while main topic of the day - ‘Diabetes and its Prevention’ was delivered by Kezakienuo Solo where she highlighted current facts about Diabetes and key measures to prevent the chronic disease. She also emphasized on the importance of practicing healthy lifestyle which is a major contributing factor in preventing and delaying the onset of Diabetes.   Underlining the recent WHO report which predicted that diabetes will be the 7th leading cause of death by 2030 with more increasing numbers of diabetes Type 2 among young people, Solo encouraged young people to adopt healthy lifestyle practices.   Eat healthy foods, maintain balance diet, practice regular physical activities, avoid tobacco use and alcohol intake, get sufficient sleep, manage stress and regular health check up, she advised the students. The programme was facilitated by the staffs of FPA India Nagaland Branch.
