Diezephe: Women’s day at Weaver’s Place held

Chümoukedima, March 8 (MExN): On the occasion of International Women's Day, 90.8 Hills FM, in collaboration with CIHSR and Exotic Echo, came together to celebrate women’s rights and awareness, highlighting the health of the weavers’ community and their loinloom activities. The event took place at the Weaver's Place in Diezephe Village, Chümoukedima with participants from Exotic Echo Women Society and Women Weavers of Diezephe.

Dr Vishala Vargese, Oncologist CIHSR shed light on breast cancer awareness, emphasising the prevalence of the disease globally and in Nagaland. She provided insights into early detection, symptoms, risk factors, and the importance of regular screenings. Nongozonuo Khape elaborated on prevention strategies, including maintaining a healthy lifestyle and undergoing regular check-ups. Merentola P Longkumer demonstrated breast self-examination techniques, empowering women to take charge of their health. 
BSc Nursing students 3rd year conducted a role play to illustrate the importance of early detection and community support in combating breast cancer.

Vekuvolu Dozo, founder of Veko Ethnic, shared her inspiring journey as a Naga weaver and entrepreneur. She highlighted the legacy of mentorship left by Sonnie Kath, founder of Exotic Echo, her inspiring story underscored the empowerment of weavers and the significance of community support in nurturing entrepreneurship among Naga women. 

The health policy known as Mon Aram was launched, a special package designed specifically for the weavers affiliated with the Exotic Echo Society. Additionally, Yarn Passbooks were distributed, offering weavers access to yarns with a 15% subsidy. This initiative is facilitated by the National Handloom Development Corporation (NHDC), under the Ministry of Textiles in India.
In conclusion, Vitono Haralu, social activist & Secretary, Exotic Echo Society reiterated the significance of celebrating women's achievements and navigating success through collaboration.
