
Kohima, February 25 (MExN): Dihoma Village formally launched the village council’s declaration of year 2008 as ‘Year of Progress and Prosperity’ on February 23 at Dihoma village. Chief Guest Lalthara Additional Chief Secretary and Development Commissioner in his speech stressed on the importance of hard work. He encouraged the gathering to work sincerely and with dignity of labour which would reap rich rewards, adding that hard work is a source of happiness.
Emphasizing on skill, he stated that importance should be laid on skillful work on a larger scale which should not be limited to cultivation alone. Lathara further said farmers are the happiest people among any professionals as they reap the benefits of toil and sweat. Encouraging the villagers gathered, he explained the importance of putting in efforts to work on a larger platform for development and progress for which, government aids and funds are readily available.
The programme was chaired by Visasolie Lhoungu, Project Director DRDA Kohima with welcome address by Zeneituo Yano Dy. Secretary Home Nagaland. The function began with an invocation by Rev. Krutsolie. Project objectives and Year-long plan were given by Visiezolie Yashü Lecturer Sao Chang Govt. College and Shürheizolie Theünuo Secretary Village PIC Dihoma respectively. Folk song and special number were presented by Khowakhrie krotho and Kuko Kro-u and the vote of thanks was given by
Kevipfhelie Lhoungu, Chairman Dihoma Village Council. There were cultural items presented after the function. Meanwhile, the Village Council said it had drawn up a list of plans which would be carried throughout the year.
