Dimapur | May 4

With Kohima and Dimapur set to begin partial containment measures from May 5, the district administration in Dimapur began sealing all entry points, barring two, into Dimapur from Karbi-Anglong, Assam, late on May 4 evening.

The Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, did not respond to calls but a police official confirmed that except the Newfield and Dillai inter-state check-posts, all other land entry points into Dimapur were being sealed till further notice.

As per the COVID-19 consolidated guidelines for Nagaland issued by the Home Department on April 29, entry into Dimapur via any other route — except via air, rail and the two aforementioned inter-state check-posts — was forbidden beginning April 30 till May 13. On the ground, however, it did not take effect until this evening.

“Any inbound traveler/returnee will be permitted to enter the State through Dimapur by train, air or by road through the Newfield Check Gate and the Dillai Gate; and by road through Khuzuma, Kohima district; Tsutepela and Watiyongpang (check-posts), Mokokchung district; Naginimora and Tizit (check-posts), Mon district; Bhandari, Wokha district; Lanye and Akash Bridge in Phek district,” the April 29 guideline had stated. It added that entry into the state through any other route or by any other mode of travel will not be allowed till May 13, “except under special circumstances with the approval of the Home Department.”
