Dimapur Excise teams seize liquor

Dimapur, May 6 (MExN): Excise Mobile Squads in Dimapur arrested two persons and seized over 17,000 battles of assorted liquor on May 3 and 4.

According to a press release from Dimapur Superintendent of Excise & Prohibition (MS), on May 3, the Excise Mobile Squad duty party stationed at New Field Excise check-gate led by Asst Inspector Rukhriezetuo, intercepted a truck bearing registration number MNO1 8886 and seized 11,136 bottles of assorted liquor which were found concealed under household items. In this connection, one lbomcha Singh was arrested and booked under relevant sections of the NLTP Act and the seized articles were deposited at the Excise Malkhana, the release stated.

In another incident, another duty party of the same unit detailed at Chümoukedima Excise Checkgate led by Asst Inspector Ketouselie, intercepted a truck bearing registration number ASO9C 4604 on may 4, and seized 6,036 bottles of assorted liquor which were found concealed under bags of fish feeds. One Manikanta was arrested and booked under relevant section of the NLTP Act in this connection and the seized articles have been deposited in the Excise Malkhana, as per the release.

Further, the release stated that the vehicles were inbound from Guwahati and headed to Imphal when both were intercepted at the respective checkgates. The Superintendent also lauded both the teams for performing excellently, despite the ongoing pandemic.
