A state level workshop on research methodology and research publication in SCOPUS and UGC-CARE Listed Journals was organised by DGC on June 3.

Dimapur, June 3 (MExN): The Research and Development Cell (RDC) and Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Dimapur Government College (DGC) organised a state level workshop on research methodology and research publication in SCOPUS and UGC-CARE Listed Journals on June 3.
The workshop was held in hybrid mode with a total of 102 participants attending both online and offline, stated a press release issued by DGC.
In the first session, Prof Nigamananda Das, Head, department of English, Nagaland University spoke on “Research Publication in SCOPUS and UGC-CARE Listed Journals.” He deliberated at length about the importance of writing good research papers and getting them published in reputed journals as it cultivates a sound culture of scholarship while maintaining ethical soundness. Prof Das also highlighted the dangers of predatory journals and pointed out that laziness is a key factor behind the inability to produce quality research papers. He emphasised that one’s research should be able to produce new knowledge and that we should not be afraid of publishing as it is easier than we believe it to be.
In the second session, Dr B V Rao, Associate Professor, department of Education, Nagaland University spoke on “Key Elements in Qualitative and Quantitative Research” where he discussed about the various types of research tools and how one can incorporate such tools into one’s research work. Among other things, he stressed on the significance of finding research gaps while choosing any research topic and how through a strong literature review, such research gaps can be established. Both sessions were followed by interaction with the participants.
The programme was chaired by Dr Vinyühu Lhoungu, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics and IQAC Coordinator, DGC in the first session and Dr Yelhi Vero, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics and Convenor of Research and Development Cell, DGC. Dr A Sentiyula, Head, Department of English, DGC invoked God’s blessings.
In the welcome address Prof Sanjay Sharma, Principal, DGC who elucidated on the paradigm shift that has taken in the educational system with the introduction of the FYUGP as per NEP 202 and the importance of learning how to pursue quality research through measures such as this workshop. The workshop ended with the rapporteurs’ report and a vote of thanks by Dr Hare Krushna Parhi, Assistant Professor, Department of Education and Nodal Officer, NEP 2020, DGC.
