Dimapur, August 16 (MExN): The Joint Council Forum (JCF), Dimapur, has reaffirmed what it termed as its “firm stand against illegal taxation, extortion and unauthorised collection of money” by unwarranted unions and associations.
Accordingly, it directed business establishments under its jurisdiction not to make financial contributions, donations, subscriptions or other monetary payments to any union, association, organisation or individual without lawful authority.
In a press release, the JCF said the decision was unanimously reaffirmed at its meeting on July 16. The Forum stated that such unlawful financial demands and unauthorised collections place an indirect financial burden on society through increased costs of goods and services.
It called for strict compliance with the directive and asked businesses to report any attempt to collect money in violation of it to the JCF or respective council representatives.
The notice was endorsed by representatives of Churches Colony Council, NST Colony Council, Middle Point Council, Nyamo Lotha Colony and Khermahal.
