Dimapur police appeals to public

Dimapur, January 11 (MExN): In the backdrop of the beefing up of security up in and around the city with combined forces of the CRPF, Assam Rifles, IRB and the state police conducting elaborate patrolling and frisking of vehicles in different pockets of the commercial city of Nagaland, the Dimapur police today appealed the public to cooperate with the law enforcing agencies of the state for ensuring the security of the people. “Enough security has been pulled in to secure the city,” said a senior police officer today while briefing media persons at the East Police Station here this evening. 

Another police officer said that those loitering in and around the towns will be question and even detained at the police station. 
Dimapur police have particularly requested the motorists to carry their vehicle documents while traveling, and at the same time cautioned that those found traveling in vehicles will be brought to the police station for verification. However, the Dimapur police said that if the vehicle owners feel apprehensive to carry their original documents then, a photocopy of their vehicle documents duly attested by a competent authority would do. 

Also the Dimapur police have warned that appropriate action would be initiated against those vehicles without registration number plates, besides police asked two-wheelers not to take off the sound-mufflers since it causes noise pollution. The police officer also requested the business community in the city to report any cases of extortion to the competent authority, be it the police or the district administration so that prompt action can be initiated against the culprits. 

The latest beefing up of the security in the city apparently comes in the wake of the declaration of the state Governor, Sankaranarayanan who said that security in the state is the topmost priority during the period of President’s Rule in the state.  

Meanwhile, Dimapur police personnel have arrested two drug peddlers and an extortionist today in the city at different places.

The two arrested drug peddlers have been identified as Raju Gupta (28 yrs) and Narayan Chakraborty (35 yrs), both from Hojai, in Assam. Police recovered 2,200 capsules of Spasmo Proxyvon, 300 tablets of Nitrosum and 300 tablets of Relipen, all banned drugs from their possession. The two have been booked under relevant provisions of the law. 

Police have also arrested one extortionist, Heruka alias Alfert Sumi during routine checking at GS Road while he was trying to extort money from a bussinessman. 

The arrested extortionist, police informed, was also involved in a vehicle lifting case in the past. Police are praying for enhanced punishment to the accused, police said. 

Besides, Dimapur police, acting on an FIR lodged by a tormented wife, have also arrested a man and his mistress for committing adultery. The two adulterous persons have been identified as Hokishe Kinimi, hailing from Lumami village in Zunheboto district and his girlfriend Holi Pochury hailing from Wazuho Phek. 

Also, police have arrested a thief who was involved in stealing a number of building materials from a resident in Purana Bazar are in Dimapur. The culprit, who stole building materials worth up to Rs 1 lakhs, has ben identified as one Dzesevito Rio alias David hailing from Gouphima and  presently residing at Diezephu in Dimapur. 

However, police have so far recovered fifty percent of the stolen gods from the thief.
