Dimapur Police clamp down on crime

DIMAPUR, MARCH 26 (MExN): The Dimapur Police in a span of five days has arrested five individuals in connection with three separate offences. The offences include two cases of vehicle theft and a case of abduction.

The Dimapur Police on March 22 apprehended two individuals from the Kukidolong area and recovered a stolen vehicle. A press note by the Additional Superintendent of Police, Dimapur stated that the accused were intercepted by the Police Mobile Patrol while proceeding towards Medziphema from Dimapur. 

The police had on March 21 received information of the vehicle theft from the railway station taxi parking area. A case was registered in the Dimapur East Police Station and an investigation was undertaken.  

The accused have been identified as Hewoka Swu, a resident of Chumukedima, Sevozo Hibo, a resident of 4th mile Dimapur and Dupranyi Shijoh, a resident of 6th mile Dimapur. The Additional SP informed that the accused have been remanded under custody and that further investigation was underway.

In another incident the Dimapur Police arrested one individual from the Dhansiri Bridge Colony on March 25 in relation to a case of abduction and illegal confinement. The Additional Superintendent of Police stated that the abducted individual identified as Md Nazamul Haque had gone missing since March 24. 

Acting on information by sources, the police raided a house near Hotel Senti and rescued the individual while arresting the abductor. It was further informed that the abducted person had knife wounds on his hands which were bandaged with a cloth. 

The arrested has been identified as Ashok Ahmed, a resident of Karimganj, Assam.  In a separate incident, Dimapur police and special branch personnel on March 20 apprehended one Hokato Achumi, a resident of Kushiabil village and recovered a stolen bike.  The bike which was reported to have been stolen on March 15 was recovered from the Dairy farm area.
