Dimapur, November 27 (MExN): Dimapur police apprehended five persons in cases of extortion and one against theft during the past week.
As per a press release from Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police/PRO, Dimapur, one Mughato T Awomi of Mapulumi village, resident of 5th Mile Dimapur was apprehended on November 16. He was arrested from Diphupar near river bank while extorting money from dumper trucks carrying sand gravel. A cash amount of Rs 2150 was recovered from his possession. Accordingly, a case was registered at Diphupar Police Station, Dimapur.
On November 19, Dimapur police apprehended two persons while extorting money from the business community at Hazi Park area Dimapur. They were identified as Helopi Yeptho, Under Secretary of NSCN(R), resident of Thilixu village Dimapur and Jesheto Yeptho resident of Chekiye village. A cash amount of Rs 6000 and two mobile handsets were also seized from their possession. A case was registered at East Police Station, Dimapur.
On November 22, one Anthony Molangmei (42 years), Razapeu of NSCN (IM), resident of Diphupar ‘B’ was arrested while extorting money from meat butchers. Cash amount of Rs 300 was recovered from his possession. A case was registered at Diphupar Police Station, Dimapur.
On November 23, one Salauddin Ali (27 years) resident of Nagarjan, Dimapur was apprehended while extorting money at Rail Bazar area. Cash amount of Rs 830 was recovered from his possession. A case has been registered at sub-urban Police Station, Dimapur.
In connection with a case registered earlier, Dimapur police on November 26 apprehended one Kupoto Awomi, resident of Padum Bukhuri, Dimapur from TK Servicing area recovered the stolen motorcycle. A case has been registered at East Police Station, Dimapur.
