Issues regulations for non-essential vehicular movement

Dimapur, August 14 (MExN): In the interest of public safety during the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic, traffic regulations for non-essential vehicular movement within Dimapur town and NH-29 till Chümoukedima town has been issued to be implemented with effect from August 17 till 31.

Odd-Even Rule: 
•    Odd number Day: On every Monday, Wednesday and Friday only vehicle with registration number ending with odd numbers (eg, 1, 3, 5, 7 & 9) will be allowed to ply. 

•    Even Number Day: On every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday only vehicles with registration number ending with even numbers (eg, 2, 4, 6, 8 & 0) will be allowed to ply. This restriction will not be enforced on Sundays. 

The category under essential services as notified earlier will be exempted. Further, Government servants on bonafide government duties and vehicles involved in providing essential services/involved in COVID -19 related duties will also be exempted from the purview of this restriction on production of relevant documents and valid ID proof. Two wheelers will also be exempted from this traffic restriction. 

All heavy vehicles, except those engaged in the four lane construction work with valid permit will be restricted from plying within the town area and highway area from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. 

The order issued by Dimapur Commissioner of Police, Rothihu Tetseo stated that violation of the order will be penalized and appealed to all citizens for cooperation in the interest of public safety.
