Dimapur, August 9 (MExN): Dimapur Police in the past few days have made several arrests with regard to non possession of ILP, extortions, and made rescues.
From August 1 to 8, Dimapur Police apprehended 15 persons for non possession of ILP documents, informed a press release from PRO, Dimapur Police. All the persons have been forwarded to the Court under the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation (BEFR) Act 1873. Intensive checking is also being conducted in New field, Dellai, Khatkhati Check Gates and at the railway station, it was informed. Individuals have been directed to produce valid ID proof for entry into Dimapur.
On August 6, Dimapur Police arrested one Ghileto Zhimo (24) for collecting money from various business establishments near Popular Bakery in the name of NSCN (K) and seized 07 nos of commercial tax receipt slip of NSCN (K) and Rs 5500 from his possession. In this connection, a case has been registered under West Police Station Dimapur.
On August 8, Dimapur Police apprehended one Robin Chishi (38), GPRN/NSCN Dy Secretary. He was found collecting illegal tax of Rs 100 per vehicle and also from business community, the release alleged. A cash of Rs 2700 and one mobile phone were seized from his possession. In this, a case has been registered at East Police Station.
Dimapur Police on August 8 rescued one woman and arrested Amir Hussain. The accused had illegally confined the victim after befriending her through Facebook using fake profile, the police said. Both the victim and accused were handed over to Longding Police, Arunachal Pradesh. Dimapur Police on July 27 also rescued one woman and 2 of her children (missing from Ledo, Tinsukia) from Signal Area, Dimapur. The victims were later handed over to Assam Police.
