Dimapur, September 5 (MExN): The Dimapur Police in the past few days arrested many people on the charges of extortion.
The Dimapur Police arrested one person namely Yanglikhum Sangtam (23 yrs) on September 3 on charges of extortion and phone snatching from a truck in 5TH Mile Dimapur. In this connection a case has been registered at Diphupar Police Station. This was informed in a press release issued by Addl Dy Commissioner of Police/PRO, Dimapur, Nagaland.
On August 31, the Dimapur Police apprehended one person namely Inalo Yepthomi (35 yrs) of NSCN (R) a resident of Walford colony, Dimapur while he was demanding Rs 10000 for yearly Tax in the name of NSCN- (R) from Durga Mandir area, Dimapur. In this connection a case has been registered at Sub-Urban Police station for further investigation.
Meanwhile, the Dimapur Police Extortion team also apprehended one person namely Tali Rocky Yimchunger (39 Yrs) of NSCN (U) on August 31, while collecting tax at Burma Camp. During further search the following items were seized : .22 Pistol alongwith Mag - 01 No and .22 live Ammns - 5 Nos. from his possession. In this connection a case a case has been registered at East Police Station and investigation is on. The Addl. Dy. Commissioner of Police/PRO, Dimapur informed.
Another person, Nur Mahammad Ali (28) R/O Lathimari, Nagaon Assam was apprehended by the Dimapur Police Anti Extortion Team on September 2. “He was suspiciously loitering in and around the ATM booth near SBI Bazaar branch and upon further interrogation, it was revealed that he on the pretext of helping others especially senior citizens swiped the ATM cards of the victims with invalid cards with which he would fraudulently withdraw the money,” informed the press release. Subsequently 4 ATM cards were also seized from his possession. In this connection a case has been registered at West Police station for further investigation.
