Dimapur: Truck tips over, 2 killed

Dimapur | November 20

A tragic road mishap in Dimapur claimed two lives on November 20. The accident occurred around 9:00 pm at the Burma Camp segment of NH 29 near the Dhansiri bridge. 

According to onlookers at the accident site, the truck tipped over on its side while reportedly making a turn towards town after emerging from a feeder road from the Burma Camp side. It was transporting potatoes. 

The car (Tata Sumo) with two occupants was approaching from the Purana Bazaar side. There were no eyewitness accounts but the onlookers said that the truck fell over the approaching car.

It took three recovery trucks to partially lift the truck, while a horde of onlookers dragged out the car stuck under the weight of the truck. It was around 9:50 pm. 

The two occupants, which included the driver and the passenger, were presumed dead. More details were awaited from the police at the time of filing this report.
