Diocese of Kohima celebrates Bible Sunday
The congregation of Mary Help of Christians Cathedral paying respect to the word of God during the observance of Bible Sunday on August 25.
Kohima, August 25 (MExN): The Diocese of Kohima celebrated the Bible Sunday on August 25 across the parishes in the Diocese.
A press release from Father Renthungo Victor stated the day was marked with fervor and reverence to the word of God.
Bible Sunday is an annual event decided by the Regional Bishop’s conference of North East India. The Mary Help of Christians Cathedral commemorated the occasion on August 25 with Most Reverend Dr James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima, as the main celebrant for the Solemn Holy mass.
Fathers Carolus Neisalhou and Victor concelebrated the Holy Eucharist with hundreds of Faithful followers to mark the occasion.
The celebration began with the reading of the Word of God by Rev Fr Carolus Neisalhou, the Parish Priest.
The congregation walked in procession to the church with the Holy Bible and Placards of the word of God written “I Thirst”, “I am the Bread of Life”, “The Word was God” and so on.
The Bishop James elaborated on the six fundamental aspects of the Holy Bible. He said that the Bible is the single most important and most influential Book ever written. He added that the Bible has transformed individuals and the wordl, adding that people are even willing to die for the “cause of the Bible that is Jesus Christ, the word who became flesh.”
The second phase included the Bible Quiz competition, where students took active participation to relive the word of God among the intellectuals. Quiz master was Dr Louis Asa. The winners and the participants were presented with cash award and other gifts. The first three individual winners will represent the parish in the regional sector, the release added.
Meanwhile, Father Neihsalhou acknowledged all the responsible persons for making the day a success and further called upon the gathering to “love the word of God.”
