Kohima, March 24 (MExN): Diphu XI from Karbi Anglong, Assam and Whiskers Cricket Club, Dimapur will clash in the final of the ongoing 8th Silver Cup T20 Cricket Tournament on Saturday, March 25. Diphu XI comfortably defeated Radiant CC by 7 wickets in the first semifinal. Favoured in the toss, the team from Karbi Anglong elected to bowl and managed to restrict Radiant to 105/8 runs in 20 overs. ungkham toiled to score 26 runs but received little support from fellow teammates. Diphu’s Mridul picked 3 wickets while Sanjiv claimed 2. In the run-chase, Ishan with a brisk 44 runs and assisted by Rahul who made 39 runs helped Diphu XI chase the target in 15.1 overs losing only 3 wickets. Radiant CC bowler Kechesin claimed 2 wickets while Mungkham took the other. Ishan was later declared man of the match. In the second semifinals, Whiskers CC Dimapur knocked Lower Bayavü Giants by 28 runs. Electing to bat first, Whiskers CC set a target of 134/6 in 20 overs. Stalwart Hokaito made a nippy half century scoring 50 runs while Jalal remained unbeaten with 27 runs. Thungjamo and Sunil took 2 wickets each for Giants. Chasing the target, Lower Bayavü Giants were all out in 19.1 overs scoring 105 runs. Skipper Tapitu scored 32 runs while Bicky added 20. Jalal claimed 3 wickets for Whiskers with Imliwati and Shera grabbing 2 wickets each. Hokaito was later adjudged man of the match. The final will be played at 10:00 am at Jakhama Local Ground while the closing ceremony would be graced by Minister for Rural Development & REPA, C L John at 1:00 pm. The tournament is being organised by Nepali Baptist Church Kohima Youth Department under the theme “Peace and Unity through Cricket”.
