Disaster Response training held

Dimapur, August 3 (MExN): A three days training programme on Disaster Response for Red Cross Volunteers and Members of the Youth Red Cross  was held from July 25 to 27 at the Conference Hall, Red Cross Complex, Kohima. The training programme was organized by the Indian Red Cross Society, Nagaland, in collaboration with the National Disaster Response Force, Guwahati and the Home Guards and Civil Defence, Kohima District, Nagaland.
The training programme commenced on July 25 with the induction and orientation of Volunteers in the first session of the day. Zakie Kire, General Secretary, IRCSN, delivered the keynote address, stated a press note.
It stated that the resource persons for the Disaster Response Training were from the National Disaster Response Force, HQ Guwahati, and the Home Guards & Civil Defence, Kohima District, Nagaland. The training was a hands-on training and covered topics on first aid, emergency rescue and evacuation methods, use of fire extinguishers and other equipments, use of ropes and methods of lashing, etc. The participants in the training were not only able to witness the use of hi-tech power tools but were also able to handle and experience for themselves the use of these equipments.
After the training, Anil Shekhawat, Asst. Commandant, NDRF, who is leading the NDRF team during their visit to Nagaland, gave away certificates to the participants. Vote of thanks was pronounced by Mr. Kholie Dolf, Member, Managing Committee, IRCSN. The Home Guards & Civil Defence team was led by Dally Jamir, District Commandant, HG&CD, Kohima and Matsung, SI, HG&CD, Kohima, it added.
