Dist Administrator lashes out at ‘arrogant’ IRB

Dimapur, December 18 (MExN): The District Administrator of Phek District today lashed out at the alleged ‘arrogance’ of IRB Unit stationed at police check gate Phek who allegedly asked a VCC member to show his Inner Line Permit (ILP) on December 17.

A press statement issued by YT Thurr, District Administrator, informed that on that day, when the the EAC, the officiating SDO (C), Meluri and L James VCC Kanjang, were sitting on an NST Bus, two IRB personnel stationed at Police check gate Phek, entered the bus and ‘ignorantly’ asked a brief case to be opened.  L James VCC Kanjang ‘politely’ introduced that the VIP briefcase belonged to the EAC; thereafter the EAC also introduced himself, said Thurr.

However, on being insisted, the brief case was opened and the IRB personnel found only official documents and files. Next the jawans asked for the ILP and identity card of VCC member, who was accompanying the EAC to attend the National Convention and rally in New Delhi. However, the VCC member replied that “ILP is not required for VCC in Nagaland” since he is a bona-fide Naga citizen, Thurr said.

Nonetheless, the district administrator of Phek district, in the press statement, strongly decried the action of the IRB personnel and said, “If the IRB Jawans at Phek could not recognize even the Dist Administration Officer, will they recognize anti-social elements and thugs between Lanye and Losami Road junction?”

Thurr opined that the personnel “need to go back to Injaram of Chahattisgarh State and learn the real IRB rules from there and return back to Phek and carry out their duties and learn responsibility so that the rusted raw IRB jawans at Phek will know a sense of recognition toward Dist. Administration Officer and Public leaders.”
