DIMAPUR, JULY 25 (MExN): The District Health Society, Mon completed the World Population Stabilization Fortnight Campaign with the slogan, “Start a Meaningful Tomorrow with Family planning” which was divided into two phases -the mobilisation week and the Family Planning services week.
The fortnight covered 183 IUCD INSERT IGNOREions, 73 permanent sterilizations and distributed numerous numbers of temporary contraceptive methods to all the blocks, a press release from District Health Society stated.
The District Programme Management Unit (DPMU) also held a meeting and came up with a decision to plan on a strategy to be acquainted with the ground reality and the facts concerning the importance of Family Planning.
The overall week has analyzed that the fertility control and the birth-spacing measures is somewhat acceptable in the district except for the mindsets of some aged folks that it goes against the will of God.
However that did not hamper the camp as the IEC (Information, Education and Communication) team played its role by setting up effective sessions of Inter personal Communication (IPC) and Focus Group Discussions (FGD) in order to give the women, men and couples comprehensive information about all contraceptive options and that there is support for personal decision making regarding family planning.
