Kiphire, November 7 (MExN): The United Sangtam Students' Conference (USSC) has raised an appeal to the Nagaland Department of Health and Family Welfare regarding the acute shortage of healthcare personnel at the District Hospital in Kiphire. The shortage is severely affecting the hospital's ability to provide essential medical services, putting immense pressure on the existing staff and compromising patient care.
In a letter addressed to the Principal Director of the Health and Family Welfare Department, the USSC highlighted the hospital’s urgent need for an Assistant Nursing Superintendent (ANS). The absence of an ANS has hindered the smooth management of nursing operations, staff workload distribution, and overall patient care standards. The hospital is also struggling with a critical shortage of Nursing Sisters, as it currently operates with only one, while at least three additional Nursing Sisters are needed to cope with the growing patient load and maintain consistent care.
Furthermore, the USSC pointed out the lack of an OT Sister, which is causing disruptions in the surgical procedures conducted at the hospital. The situation calls for an immediate appointment to ensure that surgeries can proceed without delay. The hospital is also grappling with a severe shortage of staff nurses, which is affecting the timely management of patients, particularly in critical and emergency care units. To address this, the USSC urged the government to swiftly deploy additional nurses to alleviate the pressure on the existing team.
Additionally, the hospital is in dire need of an anesthesiologist to assist in surgical operations and provide necessary anesthesia care. The USSC stressed that the gaps in staffing are compromising the hospital's ability to provide adequate medical services, putting patient health at risk. The organization called on the Health and Family Welfare Department to prioritize these staffing needs and take immediate action to fill these vacancies to improve healthcare delivery in the region.
