District level discourse on mental health at YMC

Dimapur, March 27 (MExN): Under the aegis Internal Quality Assurance Cell, Yemhi Memorial College, the Department of English & Economics organised a one-day District Level Seminar on ‘Mental Health Awareness’ on March 25. 

Sukum Aier, Assistant Coordinator for the Community Mental Health Programme (CMHP), Prodigals’ Home, Dimapur was the Resource Speaker.

According to a press release from the IQAC coordinator, the resource speaker gave an insightful discourse on mental health emphasising on the key concepts, problems and issues, facts and myths, way to identify mental health problems and secondary and primary preventions of mental health problems.

Stressing on the severity of mental health problem, Aier remarked that “the world is going towards the next pandemic; the new epidemic is mental health,” the release stated. 

There was an interactive discussion hour where many queries and doubts regarding mental health issues and mental well-being were clarified by the speaker. Altogether representatives from three different colleges along with the host college attended the seminar.
