Longleng, February 9 (MExN): A district-level awareness programme focusing on skill-based training, formal employment and sustainable livelihood opportunities for youth was held at the VDB and VCC Hall, Longleng on February 9.

The programme was organised by Eagle Crest Training Academy & Consultancy (ECTAAC), an empanelled training partner under the Nagaland Skills & Entrepreneurship Development Mission (NSEDM), in collaboration with the District Administration and the Phom Students’ Conference (PSC).

The event aimed to create awareness among youth, parents and the wider community on the growing relevance of skill education, guided employment and demand-driven training programmes aligned with industry requirements, the State DIPR reported.

Emphasis was laid on the State government’s commitment to empowering youth through structured skill development initiatives that lead to meaningful placement outcomes, it said.

In his introductory address, Extra Assistant Commissioner (EAC), Longleng, Er Vinoh Swu stressed the importance of obtaining certification from recognised institutions and encouraged youth to explore opportunities across multiple sectors instead of focusing solely on government employment.

He highlighted that continuous upskilling and skill certification are crucial for long-term career growth and sustainability.

ECTAAC CEO Temjenkala Aier lauded the government’s efforts in investing in youth through skill development programmes and urged young people to actively utilise available opportunities.

She stated that several government-supported training initiatives are accessible to youth, enabling them to become employable and pursue sustainable careers.

As per the State DIPR, a key highlight of the programme was the introduction of specialised training courses in geriatric care, child care and home care assistance (non-clinical) under the NSEDM.

The courses offer one-month free residential training, including hostel facilities and placement support, aimed at preparing youth for employment in the growing care services sector.

The seminar also highlighted the Skill Loan facility under the “Get Trained, Get a Job, Pay Later” scheme, through which eligible candidates can avail loans via the State Bank of India to pursue skill training without upfront financial burden, repayable after securing employment.

Technical and awareness sessions were conducted by ECTAAC resource persons Allin Awomi, Operations Head and HR, and Chumbeni, Business Development Executive.

The event concluded with an interactive session, reinforcing the need for continued collaboration between the government, training partners and community stakeholders to promote skill development, employment and sustainable career pathways for youth in Nagaland, the report added.

Earlier, PSC Vice President, L Shahchong expressed appreciation for facilitating government-sponsored free training opportunities, particularly in home care-based assistance programmes.
