Dimapur, August 27 (MExN):  The District Legal Services Authorities (DLSA), in the last few days conducted orientation and refreshers training for the Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) in Dimapur, Mokokchung and Peren.

 


A press release issued by the Public Relations Assistant, NSLSA stated that the Dimapur DLSA conducted orientation & refreshers training for the PLVs, at the Front Office DDLSA on August 26.  Y Longkumer, Principal District & Sessions Judge & Chairperson delivered the Keynote address. The training was divided into two sessions. Panel Lawyer Yanbemo Ngullie spoke on the topic “Purpose and Role of PLVs and Do’s and Don’ts of PLVs”. Rokovitsu Khate, Panel Lawyer spoke on the topic “NALSA Schemes and Execution thereof, Role of PLVs/Benefits of Lok Adalat” and Panel Lawyer Moatila Ao spoke on the topic “PLVs task at LSC/PS/Jails/Homes/Public places”.

The topic “Practical class on how to file FIR/Simple affidavits/Applications to Department etc” was taken up by the Retainer Lawyer, DDLSA Nathaniel Kevichusa. “Record keeping/Reporting Liaising with DLSA PL/Secretary” was taken up by Khumchuba Chang, Panel Lawyer. Ajongba Imchen CJM & Secretary DDLSA summed up the programme and gave away the certificates of participation to thePLVs. Seven PLVs along with some intern students attended the programme. The programme was chaired by Panel lawyer Visheli H Yepthomi.  


Meanwhile, the Mokokchung DLSA conducted district level training for PLVs on August 24, at Principal District & session Judge, Court Room. Altogether 25 volunteers attended the training including 11 volunteer who were interested to render their services as PLV.

The Peren DLSA also conducted an orientation training programme for PLVs on August 27 at District Court, front office, New Peren District Headquarter. The Programme was attended by 8 PLVs along with the panel lawyers. During the first session, Somet C Chang, Secretary PDLSA gave the keynote address about the relevant of the PLVs and the significance of the training programme. Asuni, Panel Lawyer spoke on the various schemes with regard to the revised scheme. Italang, Panel Lawyer highlighted the need for maintaining a comprehensive record about the activities conducted by the PLvs and how to entail the record registry. In the second session, Indeu, Panel Lawyer delivered on the duties and assignment to be taken up by the PLVs. Asungbe, Retainer lawyer PDLSA addressed the participants about the need for ethics and social concern from the PLVs. He also shared on how to go about bringing legal literacy among the weaker section of the society, the release added.
