
Dimapur, November 15 (MExN): District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) organized free medical camps in towns for children and differently-abled persons and also organized legal awareness and advocacy. Some DLSAs also paid visit to people with special needs in far flung villages.
Zunheboto DLSA: A free medical for children at Zunheboto district benefited five children. It was organized at Mt. Carmel Home, Sukhalu Village with Dr. Mughalu, MO, District Hospital, Zunheboto. One child was referred to District Hospital for further eye treatment. A local sponsor has been identified to bear the expenses of the child for further eye treatment. Zunheboto DLSA also supplied first aid medicines to Mt. Carmel Home as well as to Observation Home, Zunheboto.
Mon DLSA: In Mon, Advocate N Mannon, Project Assistant spoke about the significance of the day, where she said that it is the responsibility of every citizen to take care of every child for they are the future of our nation. Panel Lawyers and Para Legal Volunteers assisted medical practitioners during the day. Financial assistance was also given to pay expenses for purchasing medicine of the children in the hospital. Altogether 8 children were given monetary assistance.
Phek DLSA: Phek DLSA in collaboration with Mahila Shakti Kendra, Phek celebrated children’s day at St. Andrew High School Thenyizu. Vileno Kapu, Women Welfare Officer Manila Shakti Kendra observed that that discrimination of girl child is prevalent in our society where she noted that the role of government is very important to ensure that girl children are allowed to be born and flourish in life.
Sekhotso Rokha, Panel Lawyer Phek DLSA spoke on Child Rights. More than 450 students participated. The Phek DLSA team also visited differently abled persons at Thenyizumi Village. The team observed that due to non-availability of doctor and nurse at the primary health centre, they were not being treated as per their rights. The team however assured to provide legal assistance as far as possible.
Longleng DLSA: The Longleng DLSA Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) and Secretary Tucuno Vamuzo, Retainer lawyer and Para Legal Volunteers visited differently abled persons in the district.
Peren DLSA: Peren DLSA celebrated children’s day with ailing children at Women Society Hall, Jalukie town. Asungbe, Retainer lawyer Peren DLSA highlighted the significance of Legal Services Authority. He also spoke on welfare of children and how to nurture them for positive growth. A free medical camp was organized wherein Dr Ramheigum, MO, CHC Jalukie and Dr Lungkwetding MO, CHC Jalukie rendered their services. Around 25 children attended the camp and free medicines were distributed to every beneficiary.
Mokokchung DLSA: Mokokchung DLSA observed Children’s Day under the theme ‘Children of today, our keepers of tomorrow.’ The team led by CJM and Secretary Sukhalu and Mapujungla Pongen PA along with panel lawyers, PLV and MO, PHC, Mongsenyimti Dr. Maongkala Rachel visited Cure, Mokokchung, a school for differently abled children and Children Home, Chungtia. The medical practitioner also provided medicine as prescribed medicines.
Other items like clothes, shoes, books, stationary, story books, gift item were presented and refreshments were provided to all the children. Sarita store, Eastern Pharma, Tree House school and other individuals extended help in donating cash and kind for the outreach.
Dimapur DLSA: Dimapur DLSA also observed the occasion with ailing children at District Hospital, Dimapur. The DLSA donated cash to 16 children and also spoke on the objectives of legal aid services and briefed on the significance of the significance of children’s day.
Kohima DLSA: Kohima DLSA in collaboration with the Medical team Naga Hospital Authority and Social Welfare Department conducted free medical camp for differently-abled persons at Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK). A brief introduction was presented by Sunjib Rana, Retainer Lawyer, Kohima DLSA in which he highlighted about the purpose and importance of obtaining Disability Certificate in order to avail the benefits. During the camp, the Panel Lawyers and Para Legal Volunteers assisted the patients to the concerned Doctors who readily attented the patients even in the midst of their duty toward other Patients. The Social Welfare Department also helped in assisting the patients by entering their bio data for availing the Disability Certificate. Altogether 10 Panel Lawyers and 10 Para Legal Volunteers took part in the medical camp whereby 18 differently-abled people availed the benefit.
Wokha DLSA: Wokha DLSA organised legal awareness programme and free medical camp for the ailing and differently-abled children at Elumyo Village. Advocate Renbonthung Tsanglao, Panel Lawyer WDLSA spoke on the significance of children’s day and medical camp. Wobenthung Patton delivered short speech followed by Free Medical Checkups with Dr.Bendang Chang, Dr.Anti , GNM Meribeni Tungoe and Zareni Kikon. 126 beneficiaries including children were provided free medical checkup and medicines.
