Kohima, August 16 (MExN): Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) celebrated India’s 70th Independence Day by reaching out to the common people through free legal literacy stalls, exhibitions and programmes. In all the 11 districts, the District Legal Services Authorities (DLSA) set up legal literacy stalls at the ceremonial venues in the district headquarters. Free legal literacy booklets, pamphlets, flyers and simplified law books on various Legislations and Provisions of Law targeted for children, senior citizens and women were distributed at the stalls to spread legal awareness and educate the public at mass scale.
Some of the literacy booklets, pamphlets, flyers distributed were on Gender Equality: Constitutional Provisions for Women in India, Protection of Children from Sexual Offence, Consumer Protection Act, Cyber Crimes, Arms Act, 1988, Motor Accident claims & Tribunals, Prohibition of Smoking, Welfare of Senior Citizens, Protection of Women from Domestic Violence, Legal Aid and Legal Services and Prohibition of Child Labour. The general public from all walks of life, students, senior citizens, women, police personnel, teachers, Government servants, were provided with prompt legal counseling and advice by the District Judges, Judicial Magistrate, Lawyers and Para Legal Volunteers, a press release from NSLSA informed.
