DLSAs visits Legal Services Clinics

Dimapur, August 28 (MExN): District Legal Services Authorities (DLSA) paid visits to Legal Services Clinics in their respective districts during the last few days.


Kiphire DLSA visited Legal Services Clinic at District jail Kiphire on August 20. N Kano, Secretary DLSA and Hotingkiu Retainer Lawyer paid the visit. It was observed that the LSC was running smoothly so far. Meanwhile there was a short interaction with the jail authority on the key grievances of the jail.

 

Longleng


Longleng DLSA visited legal care and support centre at Yachem and Alayong village. Project Assistant, Panel Lawyer and Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) visited the two centres. Some of the observation made during the visit was that some Legal Care and Support Centre are functioning without any furniture.


In Phek, Cheliam Khiamniungan, Secretary Phek DLSA along with Kenei Swuro, Panel Lawyer, Phek DLSA visited the Legal Aid Clinic at Pfutsero in the presence of SDO and EAC. The Legal Aid Clinic was inaugurated in the year 2014 and is attached to the office of ADC. PLVs were appointed to mane the clinic however the appointed PLVs were not able to continue as all of them went for further studies. Therefore, due to the non availability of PLVs the clinic was not able to function. During the visit it has come to the notice of the Secretary, Phek DLSA that there is no facility available to function the clinic.  She apprised the Administration that new PLVs are already appointed and also Phek DLSA will take necessary steps through NSLSA for providing facilities for the clinic, in order to revive the defunct clinic so as to provide free legal aid services to the marginalized section of the society.

Ajongba Imchen interacted with the village council members and public at Aoyimkum village during the visitation of the Legal Services Clinic. 


Wokha DLSA visited reviewed six Legal Services Clinics and Village Legal Care & Support System under Wokha District. Chairman WDLSA Nino Iralu, District & Sessions Judge, Secretary WDLSA Khrievono Seletsu, Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) with Panel Lawyers and Para Legal Volunteers WDLSA.  While reviewing LSC, also created awareness on the objectives and importance of Legal Services Clinics, Various Legal Rights & Privileges at Ralan area, District Jail, Wokha, Sanis Area, Longsa, Mount Tiyi College and Wozhuro Range.
