
Dimapur, August 10 (MExN): The Dimapur Municipal Council has issued a stern warning to business establishments/ shops/ vendors in Dimapur which are still selling/using non-biodegradable poly bags.
The selling/using non-biodegradable poly bags is in direct violation of the notification issued by the Ministry of Environment & Forest (MoEF) under the Environment Protection Act, 1986 and the Nagaland Pollution Control Board on Plastic Waste (Management and Handlings) Rules 2011, a press release from the DMC stated.
The Council also stated that it had received reports of some unauthorized dealers selling bio-degradable poly bags without any permit from the concern authority.
In this regard, the Council sternly warned that any business establishments/ shops/ vendors/ individuals found violating the aforementioned notices/ directives, henceforth would be penalized and their trade licence cancelled.
