DNSU seeks support in hosting 25th NSF General Conference

Dimapur, April 6 (MExN): Gearing up to host the 25th NSF general conference from April 24 to 27, 2013, the Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) has today sought help from all concerned inorder to make the programme successful. “Without coordination, cooperation, and support from civil society, various departments, organisations etc, it is almost difficult to manage. We wish to seek cooperation from the general public and whatever possible help can be extended in our hosting,” said convener DNSU at a press conference held at Jumping Bean Cafe, Dimapur.

With just a few weeks left, DNSU has requested the public, district administration, councils, student bodies, and various organizations to come up with equal number of volunteers for the conference. DNSU further informed that on April 20, a mass social work will take place in Dimapur.

The DNSU Convener also highlighted some crucial concern areas to be addressed before the general conference. Expressing concern about power fluctuation happening in Dimapur, he said, “With weather conditions like this the conference will not be pleasant. We request the Power department to look after the power problem and supply enough power at least while the general conference is in session”.

He also appealed to the R&B Department to take care of the potholes within the city in lieu of the conference. “If a little effort can be put in, it would be appreciated”, he said adding that ‘Dimapur being the gateway of Nagaland, if we do not show our best then the visitors will take away bad memories’.  A request was also made to DMC to clean garbage dumps.

Announcing meetings in the pipeline, DNSU president K. Mhachio Lotha also said that very soon, mass based civil society organizations meeting will be held in regard of the NSF general conference. “We have invited officials from R&B, District Administration, DMC, GB’s ANPSA Unit Dimapur, and Chairman’s Forum just to name a few,” he said.

He also affirmed, “We want to solicit peoples support to make the general conference a historical event for DNSU”. More than 3000 delegates are expected to participate in the general conference which will be held at State Stadium, Dimapur under the theme, “Embracing common vision”.
