DNSU warns land encroachers

Dimapur, September 12 (MExN): In a bid to safeguard the lands belonging to educational institutions, the Dimapur Naga Students Union (DNSU) today demanded the urgent intervention of the Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur to initiate action and check rampant encroachment of government educational institutions by persons with vested interests.

A letter addressed to the Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur, Abhijit Shina by the DNSU executives, said that three store rooms attached to the Deputy Inspector of Schools (DIS) office, Half Nagarjan is in jeopardy due to harassment and encroachment by private individuals having vested interests.

The DNSU alleged that the private individuals in connivance with the district administration, seems to have acquired the land pattas for the said store rooms. In this regard the DNSU demanded that a valid retention wall be erected at the DIS store rooms’ boundary and immediate cancellation of all the pattas issued against the premises or property of the educational institutions by the district administration.

The DNSU also demanded a wall at the boundary of the Principal’s quarter of Government Higher Secondary School, Half Nagarjan, since the area has been subjected to dispute owing to intrusion by encroachers.

The DNSU further warned that it will take its own course of action if any ‘self-vested’ individual or group continues to encroach and convert properties belonging educational institutions in Dimapur. “Such acts are a great hindrance not only to safeguard and promote the interest of the students but also of the society in general,” the DNSU said.
