Dimapur, July 15 (MExN): The Diphupar Naga Youth Organization (DNYO) today censured the elected legislative representatives while accusing them of “irresponsible actions”.
Recalling the loss of two precious lives earlier in January 31 in the protests against the ULB elections, the DNYO charged the legislators of being responsible for the deaths alleging that they turned a “deaf ear” to the voice of the Nagas. “Till now the demands of the Nagas are not yet fully done,” the DNYO stated in a press release.
The youth body also blamed the government of “negligence” in the collapse of the iron girder bridge at 4th Mile where four people died. It pointed out that the bridge served as a lifeline to more than a hundred villages, and added, “Nothing has been done yet.”
Further stating that the whole of the Nagas are presently suffering and crying for help because of the road conditions, landslides, flood problems etc. all over Nagaland, the DNYO lashed out at the “power and money hungry” legislators and stated that it will not remain a “mute spectator”.
“Instead of trying to solve and alleviating the suffering of the people, the power and money hungry leaders fighting among themselves for positions of power for the few months that is left of their tenure has become unbearable and we cannot continue to remain as mute spectators,” it asserted.
In this regard, the Diphupar Naga Youth Organization demanded that the Assembly be dissolved and President’s Rule be imposed if the infighting is not resolved at the earliest “so that responsible leaders who know their responsibilities can be elected.”
