The Diphupar Naga Youth Organisation (DNYO) in preparation for its Golden Jubilee performed a monolith pulling ceremony at the Agri Expo, Dimapur on Monday with hundreds of residents from Diphupar village taking part in it. The stone was pulled from the Agri Expo to the Diphupar Village Council Hall with Minister for RD and Patron of the programme, EE Pangteang performing the customary flagging off.
In a brief programme at the Agri Expo ahead of the flagging off, Rev. Candid Sareo before saying the invocation cited the scriptures saying, “For no one can lay any foundation other than our Lord Jesus Christ.”
C. Tetseo, Convenor of the Monolith Committee, in his welcome address informed that the monolith was donated by local MLA Jacob Zhimomi.
Head GB of Diphupar Village talked on the significance of the occasion and called the monolith pulling a “historic moment”. He also urged the villagers to pull the stone together and show their unity.
The monolith pulling was a herculean task as hundreds pulled on the roots attached to the monolith. And despite the roots snapping which held up the pulling for about 15 minutes, the spirited participants comprising of young and old ensured that the monolith reached its destination.
