Minister for roads & bridges, Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu today said the ruling NPF-led government will complete its full tenure by working for the overall welfare of the people.

Addressing a meeting of the NPF Phek Division and its frontal organizations including Women and Youth Wings at the NPF Central Office complex here, Azo also cautioned against rumours.

“Let us not allow rumours to roam and destroy us,” he said and warned people with ill will not to add fuel to the fire while referring to the matter of allocation of portfolios wherein many expressed disappointment. “We should be happy with any portfolios.”

Election or no election, all Nagas should be cordial, united with friendship. No matter what, the NPF Party “will live on” as its third consecutive victory at the polls proved, he said.

He also lauded the party workers for their untiring efforts to make sure that all the five NPF Legislators were re-elected.

Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) Speaker, Chotisuh Sazo, expressed his appreciation of the party members from the grass roots level for their support. The NPF slogan “Peace for Development; Development for Peace” is an objective the NPF is committed to. The Party is also committed towards settlement of the Naga political issue, he said.

Yitachu said that the seeds sowed will bear fruits whether sweet, bitter, sour or tasty will be reaped in due course of time. “Five years may seem a long time but in a deeper sense, it is short like a night only. He lauded the party members and supporters for ensuring 100 per cent victory in Phek District which has surpassed the performance of the other districts.

He advocated maintenance of Party principles and ideology to remain strong. The NPF is committed to just and equitable development, upliftment of the downtrodden, empowerment of women and youth and these should remain constant factors for the Party to remain strong and solid. “We stand on the right platform of Naga society and for the future generations, we must give our best efforts.” He assured party members that he was willing to help in anything “reasonable.”

He further dwelt briefly on his late father’s ceaseless efforts in the cause of the regional Party which he had never left despite enticements from other political parties.

Parliamentary secretary for horticulture Neiba Kronu mooted “running money” for party affairs and in this connection, whether funds could be assured through Division level or through other control. He thanked all the party workers for their hard work and retaining all five legislators.

Parliamentary Secretary for Higher Education, Deo Nukhu, asserted that the NPF won not only due to the trust in its candidates but more so on the strength of the Party. As such, he suggested that in case of any grievances or views, these need not necessarily be aired through press releases in the newspapers, rather the party members and supporters have face to face consultations. And that despite differences regarding distribution of portfolios, cooperation is of utmost importance.

Secretary general NPF Nagaland, Kewezu G. Kenye, emphasized that unity and friendship is a potent factor in the overall scheme of things. Politics is also the art of patience and for any ill will “bury the hatchet.” He also advised that despite this unfortunate materialistic world, politics and business have got mixed up. “But do not commercialize politics. Keep the two separate.”

The NPF is the “strongest regional Party and the world is watching us. Right now the party has four Legislators in the Manipur Assembly. It will also contest in Arunachal Pradesh and Naha-inhabited areas of Assam,” he added.

One minute silence was observed in remembrance of late Thungchamu, father of parliamentary secretary for veterinary & animal husbandry Yitachu who was a staunch regionalist all his life and who passed away on May 10 last.

Vice President, NPF Central, Pusazo Luruo also spoke on the occasion. The meeting was chaired by NPF Phek division president Chivotso Nienu.
