Some of those who voted YES had this to say:
• Yes. Development for all districts is mandatory. But Special Package for the undeveloped areas in each district is a good policy.
• Yes its needed as politician tends to serve the people but the misuse their power and bring no development but bring only corruption. So there should be a strict rule for the better and prosperous Nagaland and its people.
• Yes....but the govt. should first scout for potential investors who in my wildest dreams will be willing to invest in Nagaland, if any...not letting them know that we are abundantly rich in our ever growing neo-man made resources such as factions, extortionists, corrupt officials, bribes, percentages, adjustments, land ownership system (the flesh and bone purchase) and our food insecurity and insufficiency.
Some of those who voted NO had this to say:
• No. We dont need NSDZ for development. If they really mean business, they can develop without the tag of NSDZ
• No, Its just another scheme to divert money to their own causes.. Frankly Nagaland should be brimming over with prosperity if all that is recorded in paper was actually implemented. At this point, minus one or two areas of a couple of districts, every part of Nagaland, need an overhaul...
• Definitely No. We the public should not be fooled by the politicians. The only reason our politicians want to create Nagaland Special Development Zones is because they have already purchased 1000 acres in the Foothills at throw away price from the local villagers. The other interest reasons is once the development process start, they want to take the contract which will be worth 1000 of crores. So let us not be carried away by the word ‘development.’ It is an exclusive development for the few rich politicians of our state. If anyone disagree with my opinion then I request you to first go and check for yourselves who owned how much land in the Foothills where the NSDZ is likely to come up.
• No..dont need to victimize. Where is all those special development package. Is that only in the papers or already siphon in their pocket by mla's and ministers.
• no. i dont trust this old politicians who are corrupted to the core. nothing will materelize from this special zone..but only those ministers and their croonies gets richer from such projects.
• No. Before this they should first elaborate extensively on the new Land Acquisition Bill 2013 so that landowners are not deprived and exploited.
• No, more corruption will come, more sickness like aid hiv will come from outside and destroy our people.
• Not at all. By setting up SDZ will not in anyway help our people, if our elected members are so concerned for our welfare go to Jharkhand, Chattisgarh, Orissa etc. And see how the tribals have become landless because of this so called SDZ. The rich will become richer and the poor the poorer so don’t impose on us because the idea appeals to you. We don’t want development that will ruin our future.
• NO, 50 years of statehood is old enough to give out and help others. But Naga mentality and attitude is still parasitic. High time we stretch our hands longer and work hard with for economic independence before political independence. Even if we were granted special development zone, it will only make the rich richer at the cost of the poor people. The poor and the marginalized will never feel its ripple effect without political connection or patronage relationship. Let all Nagas once again work hard like our forefathers without any funds.
• Its all a lie, never there was any development today nor there will be tomorrow...If this NPF govt rules NAGALAND...Its just another scheme to fool the foolish people of Nagaland and they will vote them to power again.... Where are the developments...? That they have been talking about for the past over 10years.,? Just fill pity for the Nagas...! NAGALAND SPECIAL DEVELOPMENT ZONE for their pockets....!
• No. Because, if our leaders are sincere and honest enough then without forming Nagaland Special Development Zones we can have a better development in our land.
• No. To me whole of the state needs extra attention rather than special. We need all round development everywhere in our state.
• SDZ has the potential to undermine Art 371A, ILP, etc., and allow central laws to override NLA. Ironically isn't this what NPF has always been harping against? Now why this u- turn. Something is not right. Under the present circumstances, SDZ is an absolute no.
Some of those who voted OTHERS had this to say:
• Unless there is stringent mechanism such as CBI, ID and Lokayukta being firmly installed to plugging the prevalent loopholes of brazen corruption culminating in all the acute malaise of socio-economic inequality. My advice to the so-called best Naga brains and policy makers of the day that no matter now bright and innovative your ideas may be for the state and its people: with my indepth hindsight of the 50 years, I can feel it in my bone with my crystal clear foresight that the status quo will not be that perceptible difference even the decades from now.
• If it will really work "Yes" or else if it is going to be the same, a strong "NO"
• Provide proper infrastructure first to the existing machinery in the state. Dont wanna see another Tuli paper mill, sugar mill and four lane etc etc.. episode
• special dev. zone 4 wht?
• The government need to give second thought taking DUDA as an example- whether this department has uplifted the Eastern Nagas in any way or only some mlas and officials.
• NSDZ is not a novel concept and not at all necessary. Crores have been squandered already under DPF which only added fuel to the flame of corruption and greed of the mlas and officers at the district level. So is the case with the Department for Under-developed Area which has not benefited the targeted groups in any way. The NSDZ at best can be made a component of DPF so that the government may not have to ask for special fund to get another national or international award for excellent paper works.
