Do you support the decision to establish a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Dimapur?

Those who voted YES had this to say:
•    SEZ should be established in Dimapur, Nagaland … for the state to avail various central funds, assistance.
•    We got to globalise.
•    Development in quick succession.
•    Coz Dimapur is the commercial hub of Nagaland and it will create more opportunities for younger generation to get new jobs
•    Without sez no sense of belonging be there
•    needed so
•    For economic development, selected areas are required, which afterwards can be extended to other prospective sites.
•    I wanna see Naga growing and this will be a little help
•    dimapur is the commercial hub of nagaland and manipur. Infrastructures are good. it will develop the state economy and bring prosperity to the people.

Those who voted NO had this to say:
•    Yes, development on such a scale in an economically backward state like ours is always welcome. However, if Dimapur or Kohima is chosen, that is a cause of concern. It is a well known fact that these two areas are already developing on an unprecedented scale, partly due to the massive investment of the govt, while the rest of the state is stagnating. The result is that there is large scale migration to these areas. It would therefore be unjust on the part of the govt to invest in the already developing regions. Why should only Dimapur and Kohima get all the major developmental projects while the rest of the state is neglected or? It is time that the public in the rest of the state demand their due share. The economic gap between Dimapur/Kohima and the rest of the state is already widening. And any effort on the part of the govt to accelerate the process will only lead to further angst and disillusionment in the rest of the state. What will be inevitable will be conflicts between the rich and the poor regions of the state as has been proved by history in any part of the world through the ages.
•    No, I dont support SEZ in Nagaland at all. It was reported in some National newspapers that 400acres of land has been earmarked for the SEZ in Dimapur, but how can they make such a decision without taking the peoples opinion into account. Look at Nandigram and other places, the policy of SEZ all over India has proved to be disastrous.
•    Nagaland is not prepared to have a Special Economic Zone. It will only make the rich richer and the poor poorer. DAN government please dont bring SEZ to Nagaland it will only destroy Nagas.
•    When Nagas are already living in poverty, how can the government to decide to establish a Special Economic Zone. It will only do more harm and will exploit the people further. It is best that the SEZ does not come to Nagaland.
•    Just because some people want funds and projects it does not mean the government should sell off everything. The SEZ has been rejected by the people in different parts of India because it is against the interest of the poor and weaker sections of the society. THe SEZ should not be established. It will be the down fall of DAN. On one hand they say they support the Year of Farmers, on the other hand they are taking away the rights of the farmers by bringing SEZ.
•    Nagaland is still going through a lot of changes and to bring SEZ at this time will only make matters worse. The idea may not be bad, but the timing itself is not good, so it is best that the government think from a long term view and stop SEZ from coming to Nagaland.
•    Nagaland not under any such Assam land Act and other rather we have personal land which has a history and identity. If SEZ takes away it will not robbed of land but identity.
•    This is imposed choice and will never will free decision. Thus, I have a problem with this question itself.
•    It will add another layer of colonial occupation in a land that is already under colonial occupation SEZs don’t respect the rights of people over their land and livelihood.
•    It sounds good! But we may not be benefited in long run. We are not mature enough to handle ourselves.
•    Nagas will be overwhelmed. We are not prepared as yet. Policies and factors that determine good economics are not in the control of the Nagas.
