Do you support the government’s decision to relax the recruitment policy of teachers?

Some of those who voted yes had this to say:

•    This is the only way to meet the demand for teachers. Though it may affect the quality of teaching, at least there will be sufficient teachers.
•    Most of the teachers are doing proxy. They are children and relatives of politicians and bureaucrats and they dont care. Most of them dont even go to school to teach and though they have talent it is wasted. So it is better to get less qualified teachers who are atleast there than to have qualified teachers who are never there. This is the sorry state of Nagaland.
•    This will help in employing educated umemployed
•    At least by getting more teachers, there will not be any shortage
•    Yes it is justified because some tribes do now have people that are qualified to meet the criteria for teaching. By relaxing the criteria, they can now serve in their own tribe

Some of those who voted no had this to say:

•    The teaching standard in Nagaland state is poor, now it will even get worse. This is the reason why many parents sent their children outside Nagaland for their studies.
•    Not at all. How can they even think of relaxing the policy of recruitment for teachers. We all know how the system works in Nagaland and rather than making the system for recruitment more efficient so that they get quality teachers, I am disgusted to learn that the government has taken a very irresponsible decision. This now shows the true color of the DAN govt. I am very disappointed.
•    I don’t see how this is going to improve the quality of teachers that Nagas need so badly. In fact I think the opposite will happen. With this kind of relaxation in the recruitment policy, the quality of teachers will only get from bad to worse. God help our students.
•    I don’t understand the rationale. Just because there is unemployment problem, how will this improve employment. If the quality of teachers is poor, than the quality of students will also be poor and this will result in more unemployment. By relaxing the standard, this will cause more bigger problems in Naga society. It is a short sighted decision.
•    It is difficult to think that anyone who cares for the future of our children will support the government decision to relax the recruitment policy of teachers. It is so absurd to think why the government made such a decision. How could this decision have been taken? The public must demand an explanation from the government.
•    We cannot play with the future of our children. Education is the foundation of the society. Rather than improving the quality of teaching, the government is doing the opposite.
•    Give chance to those quality to give quality (in this competition world)
•    No, because the teaching standards in general, in Nagaland is quite dismal. If the standard of teaching is low, how can we expect to get students of high calibre?

Some of those who voted others had this to say:

•    The choice was between quality teachers or increase quantity of teachers and the government has made its choice. I think the choice is not the right one because the teacher has life long impact on students. This decision of the government shows the direction of the DAN government and this decision will not go down well in the long term. Such populist decision aimed to win more votes will only destroy the Nagas.
•    It would have been good if the government and department had first sought the opinion of the people first before making this landmark decision because this will affect the children of Nagaland. This is one of the weakness of Nagaland governments. They do not know how to consult or take the opinion and views of the people.
