Don Bosco Alumni National Congress cum Centenary held

Dimapur, February 6 (MExN): Don Bosco Alumni India National Congress cum Centenary Celebrations of the World Confederation of Don Bosco Alumni was held at the Arunachal Pradesh State Banquet Hall, Itanagar from January 29 to 31, 2011. The event hosted by the Dimapur Provincial Federation was attended by about 150 registered life member and numerous unregistered Bosconians from the provinces of Bangalore, Chennai, Dimapur, Guwahati, Kolkata, Mumbai, Panjim and Konkan  and Trichi. While the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Gen. (Rtd) J.J. Singh was the chief guest at the inaugural function, the Speaker of the State Assembly, Wanglin Lowangdong was the chief guest at the closing function.
A press note issued by Dr. Stephen Kamson, Provincial Secretary, Don Bosco Alumni, Dimapur province informed that the three day event facilitated interactions among the delegates from all walks of life, and from different castes, creed and culture but bond by the same attachment to Don Bosco the Father & Friend of Youth, to the values received at their Alma Mater, and commitments to the vision and mission of Don Bosco especially to the less privileged and the young. The event that featured sharing of nostalgia, experiences, visions and missions as Bosconians, exotic local foods and drinks, cultural dances and songs and local Tourism of Itanagar city culminated with a rally on the theme “Review, Renew and Return to Don Bosco to usher in a Century of Peace and National Integrity” flagged off jointly by Wanglin Lowangdong Assembly Speaker and Sanjoy Takam, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) who was also the chairman of the organizing committee of the event.
The august gathering of Bosconians, many of whom are distinguished personalities, was exhorted to be partners in the mission of Don Bosco for a better world, by the distinguished guests that also included the World Delegate of Don Bosco Alumni Rev. Fr. Jose Pastor Ramirez sdb from Rome, South-East Asian Regional Rev. Fr. Maria Arokiam sdb, Dimapur Proincial Rev. Fr. P. James, National Delegate Rev. Fr. K.J.Louis sdb, Swamiji Yogeshwaranand of Rama Krishna Mission, Bishop of Itanagar Rt. Rev. John Thomas, Archbishop of Guwahati Rt.Rev. Thomas Menamparampil, Bamang Felix MLA and and a host of other dignitaries. While the chief guest of the closing function released the adopted “Resolutions of the National Congress, Itanagar 2011”, the Video DVD of the entire proceeding of the event was released by Viswanathan, the oldest and differently abled member of the association from
Chennai Province.
