DGU observes 75th Gorkha Martyr's Day cum 9th Blood Donation Drive

Dimapur Gorkha Union (DGU) on Saturday observed 75th Gorkha Martyr's Day cum 9th Blood Donation Drive 2019 at District Hospital Dimapur with the theme, ‘Donate Blood, Save Life.’

Speaking as the guest, Minister for PHED, Jacob Zhimomi lauded the Gorkhas for their service to humanity through blood donation and urged others to learn from them. “By donating blood you are saving lives and at the same time insuring your lives,” he told the blood donors. 

On Register of Indigenous Inhabitants of Nagaland (RIIN), Jacob said everybody would stay and live together in the state but added that “unwanted elements” should leave. He also urged the people to avail the opportunity of Ayushman Bharat. 

Earlier, Blood Bank in charge of District Hospital Dimapur, Dr. Temsu Ao spoke on the importance of blood donation while Medical Superintendent, District Hospital Dimapur, Dr. Z.  Kheshito Zhimomi also exhorted the gathering. 
A total of 112 units were collected during the blood donation drive.
