Newmai News Network Shillong | July 3 Union Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region (Independent charge), Dr Jitendra Singh has reiterated the Central government’s commitment towards the development of the North East region. In his speech on the concluding day of Behdeinkhlam festival which was held at Aitnar – a sacred pool, in Jowai in Meghalaya, Dr. Singh said that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not only confined to the development of the region, but also to the cultural and social growth of the region. Singh, who became the first Union Minister to attend the festival, which concluded on Tuesday, asserted that he represents the goal of rectifying and improving cultural dimensions. The Minister also expressed his satisfaction not only of the law and order situation but also on the development in the region. Dr Jitendra Singh then said that there has been a big development in the North East in the past few years. He said the people of Northeast are extremely satisfied and looking forward to the Prime Minister as someone who will actually deliver in the manner which was not happening earlier. The Union minister said “The DoNER ministry has started the process of having a rotational camp secretariat in the eight states of the northeast so that the confidence can be built up among the people of the region for the ministry and that people do not have to travel all the way to Delhi or the DoNER's headquarter for any assistance".
